also i wanted to start reading Stephen King’s “It” because i read “Needful Things” in like a week and it was really great
but the second chapter of part 1 has to start with Stephen King being a homophobic fucknugget and then i got extremely angry and upset with King because what the fuck?? ?? like, okay i’ll put this under a read more because i want to talk about this and there is like 0% chance anyone will want to listen so for a homophobic and possibly misogynistic King under read more <3
this guy is highly regarded as a brilliant author whose books are amazingly written but it’s all a load of shit
like this guy is writing in er-form in most cases as far as i know and okay, i would understand homophobia in direct speech because characters are characters, i would probably pull faces but accept it
but he speaks hatefully about queer ppl even when not talking about characters??? THAT’S JUST FUCKING WRONG. he’s supposed to be objective, and this is as subjective as it can get, like are you fucking serious??? that’s problematic as fUCK
also thinking along those lines i discovered not only that all of his main characters, or, if multiple in one book, most of them are white cis straight males; his male characters are those who make the story move, shift and change suddenly, and females are just driven my their instinct and are mostly just victims and humiliated (mostly sexually). but i’m not sure about that as i only read a couple of single stories, Needful Things and a part of Gerald’s Game so i won’t judge.
ye i’ll just skip the fact that he’s obsessed with genitalia and sex alright
i mean he literally made the so-far only gay character i read from him a hysterical, troublesome and spiteful little shit that only gets on the nerves of the heroic, virtuous, dutiful and righteous straight white cis males who are ever so innocent and only doing their job and kdfhsflkjflj it’s making me sick
i’m so angry i didn’t bring any other book i’m just going to have to fucking bite through it or sth
