Hmm, if you're talking about discovering it in Hugo's times, that I have no idea about. But in Ancient Greece, it was basically normal that there were homosexual relationships (seriously, pederasty was THE SHIT). The problem is that there aren't that many records to say whether these guys had any girlfriends; therefore, we can't say for sure that they were bi or gay (but there were 100% some men involver either way). It's all a bit confusing.

yeah, i think so. also, as the story usually concentrated on the homosexual relationship, i imagine it did not go to detail to determine if they were, for example, biromantic asexuals, biromantic homosexuals or homoromantic asexuals.
